Suprema, a specialized company in AI-integrated security solutions, has introduced the world's first innovative access authentication method called 'Template on Mobile (ToM)'.
According to Suprema on the 20th, as the importance of personal information protection and related regulations are strengthening worldwide, concerns about the use of biometric data are increasing. To address this, Suprema launched ToM, the world's first access authentication method that allows users to securely store and directly manage the facial recognition data required for access authentication on their personal smartphones.
ToM is an innovative access authentication method that combines facial recognition and mobile technology, offering various benefits to both users and administrators. Users no longer need to worry about losing or damaging physical keys or RFID cards. They can conveniently register the facial photo required for access authentication directly on their personal smartphones. This authentication photo is not stored elsewhere; it is stored only on the individual's smartphone and can be directly managed, ensuring the safe protection of personal information.
From the administrator's perspective, since users can update their photos themselves, the management process can be simplified. There is no need to separately store personal information in the system, reducing considerations for compliance with personal data protection regulations such as GDPR. Additionally, companies do not need to expand servers for storing personal information. The demand for card issuance and reissuance decreases, resulting in overall cost savings. Reducing plastic usage also contributes to the company's ESG management.
The ToM technology initially faced challenges due to the long time required to transfer large facial photos via Bluetooth on smartphones. However, by applying Suprema's independently developed and patented BLE communication speed reduction technology, the operation speed was optimized.
Based on this patent, Suprema was recognized for its technology and quality by the Public Procurement Service in February this year and designated as an ‘Excellent Procurement Product’. Products designated as excellent can be contracted directly under national contract laws and can be supplied to national demand agencies such as government offices or national security facilities where strict security and personal information protection are required. It is being introduced in large-scale facilities such as government offices and national security facilities where strict security and personal information protection are essential.
Kim Han-cheol, CEO of Suprema, stated, “As mobile technology and biometric authentication become widespread, we are very proud to introduce ToM, an innovative access authentication method, to the world as a leader in the security industry. Suprema strives to provide the highest level of security while offering a convenient and user-friendly experience for companies and individuals worldwide.”
