Lee Sang-geun, the governor of Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, visited the ‘Chaeksarang Small Library’ located in Georyu-myeon on the 20th to check on its operation status and encourage the staff involved.
Since its opening in 2009, the ‘Chaeksarang Small Library’ has contributed to fulfilling the learning needs of local residents and has established itself as a cultural space for residents by operating various lifelong education programs.
In particular, in 2023, it achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Encouragement Award in the library operation category at the Presidential National Reading Contest and the Excellence Award in the library operation category at the Presidential Gyeongsangnam-do Reading Contest.
This year, the library is planning a commemorative event to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
During the on-site inspection, Governor Lee said, “I hope the library will be used not only as a place to read books but also as a sanctuary and communication space for residents,” adding, “The county will actively support making it easier and more comfortable for residents to get closer to books and use the library.”
He also added, “I hope the small library will make great efforts to revitalize the library.”
The Chaeksarang Small Library has a total floor area of 173㎡ and consists of one floor above ground to three floors above ground, including a reference room, self-study room, children’s room, and program room. It operates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Tuesday through Friday (closed on Sundays, Mondays, and public holidays) and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
