Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) held the 2024 action plan briefing session for the 'Walkable City Muan, a city good for walking' on the 19th, presided over by Governor Kim San.

According to the county on the 20th, the Walkable City Muan project is a flagship policy of the 8th local government administration. Last May, the county held the 'Walkable City Muan Proclamation Ceremony and the 1st Muan Trail Walking Competition,' officially announcing the establishment of Walkable City Muan both domestically and internationally.

Muan County's efforts to create a walking-friendly environment in daily life and to spread pedestrian culture among residents, aiming to build a healthy and vibrant city, led to the implementation of 23 action tasks last year, including the creation of 50.5 km of trails across six locations and the installation of 85 basic location signboards along the trails.

At this briefing session, 14 new tasks were additionally discovered, such as supporting walking clubs by town and township, and hosting the Muan Sunset Trail Walking and Marathon Competition.

Furthermore, through the basic plan and detailed design service for the Muan County Walkable City, plans to revitalize urban trails will be established to systematically foster the trails.

Governor Kim San said at the briefing, "Walkable City Muan is a flagship policy of the 8th local government administration. The walkable city that Muan County aims for is an environment where any resident can happily and comfortably walk in their daily life," and added, "Please do your best to implement this by fairly collecting the opinions of residents so that no region’s residents feel left out."
