LabGenomics Supplies Oral Microbiome Testing to Seoul Hoon Dental Group, Korea's Largest Dental Franchise

Labgenomics announced on the 20th that it will supply oral microbiome testing services to Medicl (MDI), the largest dental franchise in Korea operated by Seoul Hoon Dental Group.

Seoul Hoon Dental Group directly manages dental brands including Seoul Hoon Dental, the largest dental franchise in Korea, as well as Seoul Near Dental, Seoul Open Dental, Seoul Chamjoeun Dental, Seoul Jungbu Dental, and Seoul Oracle Dental in Busan. The company also manufactures and supplies medical devices, clinical supplies, and equipment.

The oral microbiome test "BioOralCare" supplied by Labgenomics is a swab-type kit that collects and analyzes harmful bacteria residing in the oral cavity. It allows for easy comprehensive tracking and monitoring of risks related to periodontal disease, metabolic disorders, mental illnesses, and inflammatory diseases, highlighting its role as part of continuous health management. Notably, it received attention at Medlab, the largest diagnostic and medical device exhibition in the Middle East, held in Dubai from the 5th to the 8th (local time).

The term microbiome, a combination of microbe and biome, is referred to as the second organ or the human second genome. With the advancement of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology, the correlation between microbiomes and diseases has been emphasized, leading to its utilization across various industries. In particular, the industry is expanding from daily dietary habits to food, cosmetics, therapeutics, and diagnostic healthcare sectors.

A Labgenomics official stated, "We expect sales in the oral microbiome sector to grow through collaboration with the largest dental group in Korea," adding, "The two companies will pioneer diverse markets and establish a testing paradigm through close cooperation."

He further emphasized, "In addition to the oral microbiome test, we plan to actively collaborate with on-site medical staff using the hospital network for the vaginal microbiome test 'PinkBiome,' scheduled for release this month."
