The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, will identify the whereabouts of at-risk households that have lost contact and are in welfare blind spots by March 31.
In January, Suwon City formed a ‘Task Force Team for Discovering At-Risk Households’ and discussed detailed implementation plans with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, establishing a plan to promote the ‘Pilot Project for Identifying the Whereabouts of At-Risk Households That Have Lost Contact.’
First, Suwon City plans to obtain contact information from telecommunications companies to find at-risk households whose whereabouts cannot be confirmed due to missing or incorrect contact details.
For households that cannot be confirmed even with the obtained telecommunications contact information, or those for which the telecommunications companies do not respond, the city will utilize local community safety networks in each neighborhood (dong) to identify their whereabouts.
Next month, Suwon City will request investigations from the police for at-risk households whose whereabouts remain difficult to determine. The city will organize and operate the former Community Security Council and a review committee, compile the review results, and request investigations from the police. Based on the results received from the police, the neighborhood (dong) offices will reconfirm the at-risk household subjects and provide counseling.
A Suwon City official stated, "To create a more robust social safety net and welfare network, we will strengthen the public-private cooperative discovery system and expand the identification and support of at-risk households."
