"Let’s turn waste plastic into new resources through the ‘Good Bye’ activities that make recycling easier."
Na Kyung-soo, CEO of SK Geocentric, which leads the implementation of a circular economy through plastic recycling businesses, joined the nationwide campaign to reduce plastic use called the ‘ByeBye Plastic (BBP) Challenge.’
In the ‘BBP Challenge’ video released on SK Geocentric’s YouTube channel on the 20th, CEO Na highlighted the need to reduce plastic, shared the efforts and commitments of SK Geocentric employees, and presented the business vision including the pyrolysis oil business.
Earlier this month, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won participated in the BBP Challenge as the chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, proposing habits such as refilling shampoo and detergent, and then nominated CEO Na and others as the next participants in the campaign.
In the YouTube video, CEO Na said, "Reducing unnecessary plastic use is a priority," adding, "Moreover, SK Geocentric employees consistently practice ‘Plastic Good Bye’ activities for plastic recycling, such as removing labels when disposing of PET bottles and washing off contaminants before discarding vinyl."
CEO Na also emphasized that SK Geocentric’s circular economy business, including pyrolyzing waste vinyl to create plastic raw materials again, is leading the resource recovery of waste plastic. Last year, SK Geocentric declared the slogan ‘Infinite Resource Creator,’ meaning to create infinite resources from waste plastic, branding itself as an ‘urban oil field’ company.
He further stated, "Our company members will continue efforts to reduce plastic use as well as separate plastic waste using the collection devices installed within the company."
CEO Na nominated the management teams of CJ CheilJedang, E-Mart, and Woowa Brothers, who have been conducting plastic recycling businesses with SK Geocentric, as the next participants in the BBP Challenge.
