Gyeonggi Province received a total of approximately 54,000 land information inquiry applications from August last year to the end of January this year and provided land information for 28,817,656 parcels to residents and public institutions.
First, through the ‘Josang Land Finding Service,’ Gyeonggi Province provided land information for 71,660 parcels (about 64㎢) owned by approximately 24,000 people in response to 50,447 applications submitted by individuals or heirs.
The Josang Land Finding Service is used when a person with legal inheritance rights does not know the location or lot number of their ancestor’s land, or even if the heir already knows, they apply through the Safe Inheritance Administrative Service to verify the property list under the name of the deceased.
Recently, a resident of Ansan City applied for the Josang Land Finding Service upon the recommendation of an acquaintance to check if there was land registered under the name of their deceased great-grandfather. They found six parcels of land totaling 26,278㎡, classified as rice paddies and forest land, in Naju City and Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do.
The Josang Land Finding Service can be applied for by visiting the cadastral-related departments of city, county, and district offices nationwide regardless of the land location, or online at kgeop.go.kr.
Applicants must submit an ID card for themselves, a power of attorney and a copy of the principal’s ID card for agents, and documents proving heirship (such as family relation certificates, basic certificates, or family relation certificates) if the applicant is an heir of a deceased person.
Additionally, for 3,347 applications submitted by public institutions for investigations, wage claim guarantees, determination of military service exemptions, seizure of fine defaulters, etc., land information for 28,745,996 parcels (19,056㎢) owned by approximately 249,000 people was provided.
Ko Jung-guk, Director of the Land Information Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will strive to manage residents’ property rights through the Josang Land Finding Service and provide accurate data to public institutions."
