The People Power Party's Nomination Management Committee has selected lawmakers Kim Tae-ho and Cho Hae-jin, who decided to run in challenging districts instead of their current constituencies at the party's request, as strategic nomination (priority recommendation) candidates.
According to the committee's announcement on the 18th, Lawmaker Kim Tae-ho was designated as the candidate for the Gyeongnam Yangsan-eul electoral district, and Lawmaker Cho Hae-jin was given priority recommendation for the Gimhae-eul electoral district.
The candidate for the Sacheon-Namhae-Hadong electoral district will be decided through a primary contest among former National Intelligence Service Deputy Director Seo Cheon-ho, People Power Party Central Committee Labor Committee Vice Chairman Lee Cheol-ho, and lawyer Cho Sang-gyu.
For the Miryang mayoral by-election, held concurrently with the 22nd National Assembly election, preliminary candidate Ahn Byung-gu was confirmed as the sole candidate.
A committee official stated, “We have completed the review of 133 general election constituencies so far,” and added, “We will continue to maintain a fair nomination system throughout the remaining nomination process as we have done until now.”
