Seodaemun-gu Solves Residential Garbage and Odor Issues with Alley Management Office

Exclusive Opening of 'Golmok Management Office Cheonnyeon' for Household Waste Disposal Spaces in Dense Multi-family Residential Areas
Transition from 'Outside Door Disposal' to 'Hub Disposal' Method to Create a Pleasant Alley Environment

Seodaemun-gu Solves Residential Garbage and Odor Issues with Alley Management Office

Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will open and operate the “Golmok Management Office Cheonnyeon” (34, Dongnimmun-ro 12-gil, 1st floor), a space for the disposal and collection of household waste, starting from the 26th of this month.

The “Golmok Management Office” is an indoor urban regeneration hub facility created to solve the problems of “alleyway garbage and odor” in areas densely populated with single-family and multi-family houses.

It creates a pleasant alley environment by shifting from the existing “curbside disposal” to a “hub disposal” method.

This location is equipped with two general volume-based waste collection bins, two food waste processors (collection bins), and one set of recycling separation bins.

Nearby residents of 217 households can use the facility after filling out a consent form and receiving an access card.

Food waste must be disposed of in “biodegradable bags” sold at the Golmok Management Office (100 KRW for 1ℓ bags, 200 KRW for 2ℓ bags).

The operating hours are daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., including Saturdays and Sundays. However, it is closed on legal holidays (excluding Sundays).

The urban regeneration hub facility where “Golmok Management Office Cheonnyeon” is located has a total building area of 293㎡ across four floors. Above the Golmok Management Office, there are the Seodaemun-gu Out-of-School Youth Support Center and a youth study room that also serves as a community room for residents.

Previously, the district opened “Golmok Management Office Yeongcheon” (16, Dongnimmun-ro 3-gil, 1st floor) in 2022 and “Golmok Management Office Okcheon” (27, Dongnimmun-ro, 1st floor) last year.

Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “With the operation of the Golmok Management Office, the streets are kept clean and odors disappear, leading to high resident satisfaction. We will actively guide many people to use this facility.”

For more details, please contact the Urban Management Division of Seodaemun-gu Office or the “Golmok Management Office Cheonnyeon.”
