Eight Locations Including Convenience Store Restaurants and Cafes Open for Public Bidding
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold a public recruitment for tenants of 8 convenience facilities at the Gwangyang Seafood Distribution Center until the 26th.
The target facilities include one convenience store on the 1st floor, three seafood restaurants on the 2nd floor, three food courts on the 3rd floor, and one cafe on the 4th floor, totaling 8 locations, with a usage period of 5 years from the contract date.
The recruitment for tenants will be conducted through a restricted competitive bidding (highest bid wins) process, targeting individuals aged 19 or older or corporations with an address in Gwangyang City. Those wishing to participate in the bidding can do so via Onbid (Korea Asset Management Corporation’s electronic asset disposal system) by 6 PM on the 26th.
These convenience facilities are expected to create great synergy with the seafood wholesale market (1st floor) and the set meal restaurants (2nd floor), which have been open and operating since December 22 of last year, thereby revitalizing the center.
The Gwangyang Seafood Distribution Center is a ‘marine and fisheries specialized complex cultural facility’ where distribution and culture coexist. It is accelerating efforts to faithfully fulfill its role as a seafood distribution infrastructure so that local residents can safely enjoy fresh seafood.
The center is located between the Middle East Lakhee Hotel and Gwangyang Port Marine Park, allowing citizens and tourists to enjoy various experiences such as lodging and waterfront park walks in one place. This has attracted significant interest from restaurant operators (hopefuls) planning various businesses utilizing seafood.
The public seafood wholesale market on the 1st floor allows visitors to see various live fish such as king crabs, lobsters, snow crabs, and yellowtail, and they can eat immediately at the set meal restaurants on the 2nd floor. This attracts not only small business owners and distributors but also curious children and their parents who visit frequently.
In particular, during the Lunar New Year holiday, visitors and citizens who came to the distribution center expressed their impressions, saying, “We didn’t know that Gwangyang had such a facility with a great view,” and felt pride in the uniquely designed fishing boat-shaped building exterior and the hygienic, modernized wholesale market facilities.
The 100-person capacity conference room on the 2nd floor has seen increasing inquiries from local corporations and organizations needing workshop and educational spaces. Various cultural and artistic experience events, including exhibitions, are scheduled to be held in the lobby on the same floor, anticipating continuous visitor demand.
Participants using the conference room for training said, “It was nice to be able to heal by enjoying the view from the center’s rooftop during breaks,” and “There is a lack of meeting spaces in the area, so we will use it frequently in the future,” showing positive responses.
The rooftop section, connected by outdoor stairs from the 1st to the 4th floor, has been developed as an outdoor rest area featuring an excellent ocean view of the Yi Sun-sin Bridge and Gwangyang Port, street performance stages, and various tourism contents that citizens and visitors can enjoy along with diverse seafood delicacies.
A Gwangyang City official said, “Apartment complexes are being developed near the center, and while expanding cultural spaces inside the center, we plan to promote tourism projects in connection. Since there is great potential for commercial district development in the future, we hope for much interest and participation in the recruitment of convenience facilities.”
