On the 18th, a post warning about the recently trending 'Tights Man' culture in Japan was uploaded on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter), attracting attention. The post was followed by numerous eyewitness accounts of Tights Men spotted on subways and streets. Photos posted by netizens show men wearing full-body stockings over their faces sitting among women on the subway while wearing short skirts, or smiling while looking at closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras on the street. Some were even captured wearing wigs, hats pulled down low, and makeup, appearing like actual women.

A netizen, A, who claimed to have seen a Tights Man in a public women's restroom, said, "I finished using the restroom and came out of the stall, and found a Tights Man fixing his makeup in front of the mirror." He added, "By looking at the bone structure, I instinctively knew he was a man. Men dressed as women who do not exhibit natural female behavior are easy to distinguish." He warned, "If someone is acting unusually feminine, they are definitely a Tights Man. You should run away immediately."

Another witness, B, said, "I saw a Tights Man on my way home after work." He continued, "At first, I thought it was a mannequin, but when I got closer, it moved. It stared at me with an expressionless face, and I was so scared that I left immediately." He added, "When I shared this with my friends, they said that Tights Men have been frequently seen on the Chuo Line recently. Passengers using that train should always be cautious." The Chuo Line is a major railway line connecting Tokyo Station in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, to Nagoya Station in Nakamura Ward, Aichi Prefecture.

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "The reality of Tights Men becoming popular is frightening," "I hope this is just a fleeting trend and does not become a deeply rooted culture," "They seem especially scary at night," "Tights Men commit such acts to satisfy their distorted sexual desires. If they enter women's restrooms, report them immediately," and "The expressionless face is the scariest."
