Last year, Samsung TVs also maintained the number one position in the premium market priced above $2,500 and the extra-large market of 75 inches and above.
In the premium TV market priced above $2,500, Samsung recorded a 60.5% market share based on sales last year. This figure represents a 12.2 percentage point increase compared to 48.3% in 2022.
In the extra-large market of 75 inches and above, Samsung recorded a 33.9% market share based on sales. Notably, strong sales of the largest size in the Neo QLED lineup, the 98-inch model, helped Samsung achieve a 30.4% market share in the 90-inch and above extra-large market, securing the number one position.
In the OLED TV market, Samsung Electronics surpassed one million units sold within two years of launch last year and recorded a 22.7% market share based on sales. As the OLED lineup expands this year, the market share in the OLED TV segment is expected to rise significantly.
Yong Seok-woo, President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, said, "The result of being the world’s number one in the global TV market for 18 consecutive years is the outcome of the trust given by consumers," adding, "We will continue to introduce various innovations that can make consumers’ daily lives more valuable."
Meanwhile, President Yong declared the beginning of the 'AI Screen Era' at CES 2024 held in Las Vegas, USA, last January. He revealed a vision where AI screens will play a central role as 'AI home devices' that connect and control all devices in the home from the center of the household, and that based on next-generation AI processors and the Tizen OS, Samsung will offer consumers a new way of life beyond traditional smart TVs.
