Goryeong-gun Tourism Council Holds Tourism Academy

From Local Representative Festival to Global Cultural Tourism Festival↑

The Goryeong County Tourism Council in Gyeongbuk invited Professor Byun Jeong-woo, an advisor for cultural tourism festivals and a widely active figure in the tourism field, who is an emeritus professor at Kyung Hee University, to hold a tourism academy on the 16th.

Goryeong-gun Tourism Council Holds Tourism Academy On the 16th, Goryeong County held a Tourism Academy by inviting Professor Emeritus Byun Jeong-woo of Kyung Hee University.

This tourism academy was attended by about 150 participants including local service industry workers, festival-related personnel, members of the Goryeong County Tourism Council, and local residents. Lectures were given on tourism development strategies utilizing the Jisan-dong Tumuli, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and local resources, as well as development strategies for the Goryeong Daegaya Festival, which has entered the Korea Cultural Tourism Festival category.


Kim Yong-hyun, chairman of the Goryeong County Tourism Council, stated, “This was a great opportunity to gain high-quality information and suggest improvement directions in line with changing tourist lifestyles and to advance toward a global festival.” He added, “We will make every effort to help the Goryeong Daegaya Festival leap beyond a national festival to become a global festival (Honorary Tourism Festival).”


The Goryeong Daegaya Festival, selected as a Korea Cultural Tourism Festival for 2024-2025, will be held over three days from the 29th to the 31st of next month at the Jisan-dong Tumuli, Goryeong Daegaya Museum, and historical theme tourism sites. The festival will feature diverse and engaging programs based on the history of Daegaya.
