Stonebridge Ventures announced on the 19th that it has carried out executive appointments for 2024. Partner Choi Dong-yeol has been appointed as Head of Investment Division and Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and Directors Song Young-don, Lee Jong-hyun, and Kim Su-jin have all been promoted to Managing Directors. These appointments will take effect from the 1st of next month.
Partner Choi Dong-yeol, appointed as Head of Investment Division and CIO, is a veteran with experience spanning industry and investment, having worked at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Venture Investment, and Partners Investment. He successfully led investments and exits in Stonebridge Ventures’ signature deals such as Suar Labs, Gaon Chips, and Open Edge Technology. He has led investments in deep tech companies in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), secondary batteries, and next-generation medical devices. Additionally, he serves as the lead fund manager for multiple funds, including the Stonebridge New Growth 4.0 Investment Partnership newly established at the end of last year.
Managing Director Song Young-don joined Stonebridge Ventures in 2017 after earning a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from POSTECH and gaining experience at Ernst & Young, Solbon Investment, and Midas Dong-A Investment. He led the formation of the IBK-Stonebridge Rising No. 2 Investment Partnership, an early-stage company dedicated fund established last year, and now serves as its lead fund manager.
Managing Director Lee Jong-hyun earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yonsei University and joined Stonebridge Ventures in 2023. Prior to that, he worked at Naver’s strategic investment organization, D2 Startup Factory (D2SF), where he discovered and invested in technology startups. He currently serves as the lead fund manager of the Smart Korea Naver-Stonebridge Rising Investment Partnership, an early-stage company dedicated fund.
Managing Director Kim Su-jin is a certified public accountant who holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Inha University and an MBA from Korea University. She has worked at Samjong KPMG, Daishin Economic Research Institute, and Meritz Securities in equity investment and new technology finance teams, handling new technology fund formation and investment. She joined Stonebridge Ventures in 2022 and is a key operator of the IBK-Stonebridge Innovation Growth PEF and IBK-Stonebridge New Deal ESG Unicorn PEF.
CEO Yoo Seung-woon emphasized regarding this executive appointment, “Executives responsible for fund management will dedicate themselves to fund operations with a greater sense of responsibility to maximize the interests of investors.”
