Haeundae-gu with 55,000 Children to Open 'Dalbit Children's Hospital' Starting March

From March 1, Designation and Operation of 'Haeundae Pureunbada Children's Hospital' in Jung-dong, Haeundae-gu

Open Year-Round, Weekdays Until 11 PM, Weekends and Holidays from 9 AM to 10 PM

Busan City will designate and operate the ‘Haeundae Pureunbada Children's Hospital’ located in Jung-dong, Haeundae-gu as a Moonlight Children's Hospital starting from March 1.

The 'Moonlight Children's Hospital' provides medical services through outpatient care for pediatric patients with mild symptoms during weekday nighttime hours and holidays (Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays), in addition to emergency room services.

The goal is to improve medical accessibility for mild pediatric patients through local medical institutions and reduce the inconvenience and cost burden caused by emergency room visits.

This expansion of the Moonlight Children's Hospital in Haeundae-gu follows the addition of two Moonlight Children's Hospitals in the western Busan area last February. The city explained that these achievements are thanks to various administrative and financial support measures, including the enactment of the nation’s first Moonlight Children's Hospital support ordinance last year to revitalize Moonlight Children's Hospitals and the establishment of operational expense support plans to strengthen medical functions.

The city currently designates and operates six Moonlight Children's Hospitals (Dongnae, Yeonje, Gijang, Yeongdo, Gangseo, and Saha) and plans to operate a total of seven, including the newly expanded one in Haeundae, starting March 1.

The currently operating Moonlight Children's Hospitals are ▲Jeonggwan Woori Children's Hospital in Gijang-gun ▲Ai Sarang Hospital in Yeonje-gu ▲99 Seoul Pediatrics and Adolescents Clinic in Dongnae-gu ▲Ai Seoul Hospital in Yeongdo-gu ▲Myeongji Children's Hospital in Gangseo-gu ▲Busan The Kids Hospital in Saha-gu.

The newly expanded Moonlight Children's Hospital will provide medical care until 11 PM on weekdays starting March 1 and will also operate from 9 AM to 10 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

After a preparation period in February, full-scale operations are scheduled to begin smoothly from March 1.

The city expects that the designation and operation of the first Moonlight Children's Hospital in Haeundae-gu, where the pediatric population exceeds 55,000, will further improve medical accessibility for mild pediatric patients.

It is also expected to reduce the inconvenience and cost burden caused by emergency room use.

In particular, Haeundae Pureunbada Children's Hospital has signed an agreement with the nearby emergency medical institution, Haeundae Bumin Hospital (a general hospital), establishing a pediatric patient linkage and cooperation system.

Through this, it is anticipated that pediatric patients will be connected and cooperated with appropriate medical institutions according to the severity level, helping to alleviate the concentration of patients in emergency rooms.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “With the designation and operation of the first Moonlight Children's Hospital in Haeundae-gu, where the pediatric population exceeds 55,000, we expect to better meet the demand for Moonlight Children's Hospital services from our citizens. Our city will continue to do its best to strengthen the pediatric care system according to severity levels and will keep expanding Moonlight Children's Hospitals to establish a solid foundation for this.”
