Geumcheon-gu Implements Smart Administration Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) Digital Pen

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that starting this year, the local dementia relief center will implement smart administration by using an ‘Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT)-based digital pen’ for filling out examination documents.

When filling out existing paper forms with the digital pen, the written content is converted into digital data in real time and stored in the computer system, improving administrative work efficiency.

Additionally, various digitized statistical data can be utilized in work. The previous cognitive test method involved the inconvenience of separately inputting the contents of the completed test sheets into the computer and manually summing the scores for each test item.

After being selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s ‘AI Learning Data Construction’ contest project in 2022, the district collected handwriting data from about 2,800 residents over approximately three months. Subsequently, a learning database (a collection of data necessary for performing specific tasks) was established on the AI integrated platform (AI HUB).

The digital pen has high utility as it can identify individuals by analyzing handwriting speed and pressure through AI learning. The district plans to expand the application of the digital pen across public services to enhance administrative work efficiency.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Once the use of the digital pen is established at the dementia relief center, it will greatly help in efficiently managing dementia patients,” adding, “We will take the lead in creating an intelligent city (smart city) where dementia patients and their families can live with peace of mind.”

For more details, inquiries can be made to the Geumcheon-gu Office’s Resident Safety Division and the Dementia Relief Center.
