Night Market Private Consignment Kickoff Meeting Held
Scheduled Twice a Week... Food, Attractions, and Experiences
On the 16th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held a kickoff briefing session on the overall operation of the ‘2024 Gumi Saemaeul Central Market Night Market’ at the International Trade Cooperation Office of City Hall.
During the briefing, detailed explanations were given regarding the night market concept and operational direction, including the opening ceremony event management, promotional plans, night market composition, and safety measures.
After the presentation, feedback was gathered from related organization leaders such as the Saemaeul Central Market Merchants Association president and the Dongmun Shopping District president on Jungang-ro, as well as expert opinions from professors.
The night market, held along the Saemaeul Central Market area (250m), is scheduled to take place twice a week (Friday and Saturday) from late April to late June, totaling 20 sessions. During Children’s Day and the Provincial Sports Festival, operations are planned for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The city plans to revitalize the local economy by attracting visitors to the traditional market through providing attractions and experiences such as food stalls, photo zones, experience booths, and flea markets, aiming to establish the event as a representative festival of Gumi City.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, “The night market is not a one-off event that ends in a day or two, but will continuously attract citizens’ interest by highlighting unique features for each session with a long-term perspective. We will also strive to have it recognized as a representative event of Gumi City among tourists.”
