Clear and warmer than usual today... Rain nationwide starting Sunday

Today (17th), the whole country is expected to be mostly clear with warmer weather than usual for this time of year.


According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 17th, the expected daytime high temperature will rise by 2 to 5 degrees from the previous day, ranging from 8 to 15 degrees Celsius. This is also higher than the average for this period (4 to 10 degrees Celsius).

On this day, fog with visibility less than 1 km is expected in inland areas until the morning, so caution is advised for traffic safety.


Tomorrow, the sky will gradually become cloudy nationwide, and rain is expected across the country from the afternoon through the day after tomorrow. Especially from tomorrow night to early morning the day after tomorrow, heavy rain is expected mainly around Jeju Island, the southern coast, and the Jirisan area.


The rain will start in Jeju Island between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. tomorrow, then spread to the western coast of Gyeonggi Province, western Chungnam, southern regions in the afternoon, and expand nationwide at night. Most of the rain will stop by the night of the day after tomorrow.


Expected rainfall on the 18th and 19th is 20 to 60 mm in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province (the metropolitan area), 20 to 60 mm in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, 20 to 60 mm in the Chungcheong region, 30 to 80 mm each in Gwangju, Jeonnam, Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (over 100 mm near Jirisan, the eastern southern coast of Jeonnam, and the southern coast of Gyeongnam), 20 to 70 mm in Jeonbuk, and 30 to 100 mm in Jeju Island (over 150 mm in mountainous areas).


Also, from the morning of the 18th, most regions nationwide will experience wind gusts exceeding 55 km/h at times, so caution is needed to prevent safety accidents. Furthermore, in the West Sea, South Sea, and Jeju Island maritime areas, there may be gusts accompanied by thunder and lightning, so maritime safety accidents should also be carefully avoided.
