Some Early Buyers Continue to Request Returns
Apple's mixed reality (MR) spatial computing device 'Vision Pro' has hit a snag in its sales surge. This is due to a growing number of return requests from some early buyers. Complaints of discomfort such as headaches and fatigue are also increasing.
On the 15th (local time), the US IT media outlet The Verge reported that return requests from some Vision Pro buyers are continuing. The outlet predicted, "Return requests are expected to continue until the 16th, which marks 14 days after purchase (the period during which returns are allowed)," adding, "It seems the 'honeymoon' period between buyers and the Vision Pro has ended."
According to The Verge, Apple is implementing a generous refund policy. IT devices sold by Apple can be returned at any time within 14 days from the date of purchase. However, this is because major developed countries such as the United States and the European Union (EU) legally guarantee the right to exchange and refund within 14 days. Also, to properly exercise the refund right, the product must have been purchased from an official Apple Store.
The Verge also introduced some negative opinions about the Vision Pro. One tech reviewer said, "After wearing it for just 10 minutes, I felt like my head was going to explode from a headache." It appears that issues such as eye fatigue, headaches, and nausea?chronic problems associated with virtual reality (VR) goggles?have also been reproduced with the Vision Pro.
There were also opinions that wearing the heavy goggles, which weigh 630g, for extended periods is burdensome, and complaints that multitasking is difficult or that the differentiation from existing Apple products like the iPhone and MacBook is not clear.
Neil Patel, a YouTuber with 1.2 million subscribers and a New York Times bestselling author, lamented, "No matter what posture I wore it in, it was too heavy," adding, "My eyes hurt as if I was wearing contact lenses for the first time, and I had headaches for several hours after wearing it."
According to Google Trends, which shows actual search volumes on Google, search rankings related to returns, such as 'Vision Pro return' and 'Vision Pro return policy,' have surged sharply.
