Completion of 3 Sabang Dams and 2 Stream Conservation Sites
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will actively promote the erosion control project this year by investing a total budget of over 1.4 billion KRW to enhance the value of forest resources and strengthen disaster and climate change resilience.
Starting with preliminary design in 2023, Boseong-gun has established a plan to complete three erosion control dams, two stream conservation sites, and two mountain erosion control sites before the rainy season to protect the lives and property of its residents.
The erosion control project involves restoring barren land where soil erosion occurs and sediment loss is a concern during heavy rainfall, or installing forest disaster prevention structures such as erosion control dams to prevent or mitigate mountain collapses, and the outflow of soil, rocks, and trees.
The stream conservation project aims to reduce the longitudinal slope of valleys to slow down the speed of valley water and prevent bottom erosion.
Boseong-gun plans to conduct external inspections (64 sites), detailed inspections (4 sites), and safety diagnoses (2 sites) on existing erosion control facilities, checking for abnormalities such as cracks and leaks, and complete repairs before the rainy season to ensure the facilities function properly.
A representative of Boseong-gun stated, “We will focus on erosion control projects in landslide-prone areas around residential zones every year and thoroughly manage erosion control facilities to do our best to protect the lives and property of residents from forest disasters.”
