Agreement Ceremony on the 15th, Establishment of a Permanent Exhibition Hall for Carbon Neutral Future Energy City
Showcasing the Latest Science and Technology Culture, Joining Hands for Regional Development and Public Interest Promotion
On the 15th, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters signed a business agreement at the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters PR Center in Gijang-gun, Busan, to jointly establish a future-oriented carbon-neutral energy exhibition hall with the National Busan Science Museum.
On the 15th, a business agreement ceremony was held for the joint establishment of the National Busan Science Museum and the Future Carbon Neutral Energy Exhibition Hall, and Kwang-Hoon Lee, Director of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters (left), and Young-Hwan Kim, Director of the National Busan Science Museum, are taking a commemorative photo after signing.
Both organizations agreed to actively cooperate in jointly building exhibits for the future city platform ‘i-SMR (Innovative Small Modular Reactor) Smart Net-zero City (SSNC)’ aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and solving energy supply issues.
The main contents of the agreement include jointly building and operating future city SSNC exhibits within the National Busan Science Museum, mutual cooperation and support for the development and promotion of both organizations, collaboration in hosting lectures and events in the future energy business sector, and matters related to regional development and public interest enhancement.
The SSNC, introduced by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power at the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last December, is a future city platform where SMRs, which are highly energy-efficient and emit no greenhouse gases during power generation, harmonize with renewable energy, making it a spotlighted eco-friendly future energy source.
Kim Young-hwan, Director of the National Busan Science Museum, said, “I am pleased to join hands with a neighboring institution that always strives for regional community development,” and added, “We will closely cooperate to provide a proper educational venue on carbon neutrality and future energy.”
Lee Kwang-hoon, Director of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, said, “This will be a great opportunity to introduce the latest science and technology culture and the blueprint of a future energy city to residents together with the National Busan Science Museum, a key institution for regional science and technology culture,” and added, “Going forward, the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters will continue to make efforts to create opportunities for local children to easily access and learn science.”
