Support for Promising Technology Transfer and Commercialization
Promotion of Open Innovation in SMEs

The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Kibo) announced on the 16th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Association of Research Institutes Technology Transfer (KARIT) for "Technology Transfer of Promising Research Institute Technologies and Promotion of Open Innovation for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)."

This agreement was established to create an organic cooperative system that efficiently transfers promising technologies owned by research institutes to SMEs and drives technological innovation by linking Kibo's technology transaction platform, 'Smart Tech Bridge,' with KARIT's expertise in technology transfer and commercialization support projects.

Through this agreement, both organizations will continuously cooperate on ▲utilizing the electronic contract system through Smart Tech Bridge ▲establishing a technology transaction and commercialization information-sharing system using both organizations' information networks ▲linking tasks such as technology finance, technology evaluation, technology protection, and consulting for technology transactions and commercialization between research institutes and SMEs ▲and policy development for technology transactions and commercialization.

Kibo's 'Smart Tech Bridge' supports SMEs in easily exploring and acquiring excellent technologies suitable for commercialization by providing not only patent information but also various forms of technologies developed through government research and development (R&D) projects at public research institutions.

Additionally, through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' '2024 Technology Transaction Activation Support Project,' Kibo supports the production of marketing materials for excellent technologies owned by research institutes and technical guidance from research institutes to technology-adopting companies. In the future, Kibo plans to promote open innovation for SMEs through continued collaboration with KARIT.

Lee Jae-pil, director of Kibo, stated, "We will actively utilize Smart Tech Bridge to ensure that promising technologies owned by research institutes do not go to waste by maintaining a continuous cooperative relationship with KARIT," and added, "Kibo will actively support technology transfer and commercialization for open innovation of SMEs and take the lead in revitalizing the technology transaction market."
