Strengthening Specialized Programs for Habit Improvement in Exercise, Mind, Relationships, and Food to Find Daily Healing... Advancing as Korea's Top Healing Institution -
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong)'s Gangnam Healing Center has expanded its specialized healing regular courses for improving the four major habits of exercise, mind, relationships, and food to about 80 courses this year.
Established in 2021 as the first district healing center, Gangnam Healing Center (COEX branch and Gaepo branch) introduced about 60 specialized healing courses last year after switching to direct management by the district office, differentiating itself from existing cultural centers. In particular, the programs included lifestyle habit improvement projects proposed by wellness experts, attracting great popularity with 91,745 visitors last year.
Based on last year's operational capabilities, the district plans to increase the number of courses to 80 this year, aiming to become the nation's top specialized healing institution. A separate “workshop” space more suitable for small-scale courses such as relationship habits will be created to enable participants to communicate more closely. Additionally, classes such as aromatherapy and color therapy, which were piloted last year, will be established as regular courses. Besides regular courses, special lectures by invited experts in the first and second half of the year and one-day special lectures will be introduced. In the second half of the year, a dedicated website will be launched to enhance user convenience.
The expanded regular courses are programs that improve the four major daily habits of exercise, mind, relationships, and food to find healing in everyday life.
The “exercise habits” program, which restores health by correcting improper body movements, offers specialized courses including yoga, Pilates, SNPE (correct posture exercise), Virtual Mate, Good Ball, and Alexander Technique.
The “mind habits” program for stress management and healing from depression operates singing bowl meditation, walking meditation, and breathing meditation. The “relationship habits” program, which teaches how to build healthier relationships with family, friends, neighbors, and others around you, includes writing, dance therapy, aromatherapy, color therapy, and innovative organizing.
Additionally, a healing wellness diet course is prepared as part of the “food habits” program.
Course registration is accepted every even-numbered month on a two-month basis. Applications can be made from 9 a.m. on February 23 through the Gangnam Healing Center mobile app and the Gangnam-gu integrated reservation site, and in-person applications at the center are also possible.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “As interest in quality rest such as digital detox has recently increased, we have strengthened the programs at Gangnam Healing Center. Through the Gangnam Healing Center in Sinsa-dong, scheduled to open at the end of this year, more residents will be able to use the center’s diverse programs.”
