This training was organized to discuss the role of regional convention centers and Pohang City's promotion direction in order to strengthen the competitiveness of Pohang as a marine tourism city and to establish the foundation for the Pohang MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry, including the construction of the Pohang International Exhibition & Convention Center, which Pohang City is prioritizing.

President Yoon Eun-ju was appointed last year as the chairperson of the Pohang MICE Industry Support Committee and has been continuously advising on the successful construction of the Pohang International Exhibition & Convention Center and the development of the local MICE industry.

At the forum, President Yoon delivered a lecture covering practical topics such as the concept of the MICE industry, examples of domestic and international convention centers, their operational status, and key operational factors.

She also explained Pohang City's promotion direction for the construction and operation of the Pohang Exhibition & Convention Center, emphasizing that not only Pohang City but also local institutions, companies, universities, research institutes, the MICE tourism industry, and citizens must unite and work together.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, "We will lead regional economic growth and future urban competitiveness through the activation of the MICE industry, spearheaded by the construction of the convention center," adding, "Furthermore, we will strive to attract international conferences related to the region's three major new growth sectors?secondary batteries, bio, and hydrogen industries?to become a hub for future new growth industries."
