This visit is the first step to hear voices from the field in order to reflect the difficulties of small business owners on urgent issues such as the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, digital transformation, carbon neutrality, and overseas expansion into small business policies.
The small business cluster district in Mullae-dong, Seoul, is the largest small business cluster in Korea, housing about 1,230 small business companies. It has maintained the foundation of the domestic root industry, mainly producing machinery and metal products.
Minister Oh Young-joo stated, “I was able to hear the valuable opinions of small business owners who form the foundation of Korea's manufacturing industry and experience the vivid reality on site,” and emphasized, “We will actively support small business owners to respond to changes in the external environment such as the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the expansion of the global market.”
She added, “We plan to prepare the ‘3rd Urban Small Business Support Comprehensive Plan (2025-2027),’ a mid- to long-term plan for fostering small businesses, within this year, and we hope the industry will provide many opinions to create better policies.”
