Yeongyang-gun Implements Region-Specific Customized Programs
The Gyeongbuk Yeongyang-gun Multicultural Family Support Center is conducting a parent education program titled "Exciting First Day of School, Mom and Dad Are Also First Graders" for 23 families with children entering elementary and middle school. The program runs from the 15th to the 16th, starting at 10 a.m., in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Yeongyang-gun Comprehensive Welfare Center.
This program is held in collaboration with the Yeongyang Office of Education and features current educators who are knowledgeable about multicultural families: Park Eun-joo, a teacher at Yeongyang Jungang Elementary School, and Yang Hye-seon, vice principal of Yeongyang Middle School. It provides an opportunity for parents, who lack sufficient information about schools, to meet and alleviate their anxieties about their children's enrollment, helping support their children’s stable school life.
Before the event, Yeongyang Jungang Church (Pastor Kang Dong-seok) annually donates school bags and indoor shoes worth approximately 1 million won. A delivery ceremony was held to motivate children from multicultural families to start fresh and encourage their successful adaptation to school life.
The day’s activities include education on elementary and middle school curricula and enrollment information, school tours to help parents understand their children’s school life and curriculum, and a handmade syrup-making experience to support the psychological and emotional stability of the parents.
County Governor Oh Do-chang stated, “I ask multicultural family parents to learn well about their roles and the structure and curriculum of elementary and middle schools so that their children can adapt well to the unfamiliar school environment, and I urge continuous encouragement and support.”
