Kim Jin-sang, President of Kyung Hee University, will begin his four-year term starting February 14. Appointed on the 8th of last month, President Kim is the first president from the science and engineering fields at Kyung Hee University.
Since the 17th of last month, President Kim has participated in a two-week training program designed for new presidents. The training program consisted of learning about the history of the Kyung Hee Foundation, the role of the institution's head, challenges, and understanding the status of related departments. Based on this program, President Kim is currently formulating a detailed work plan. The established work plan will become an implementation strategy after consultation with the foundation and approval by the board of directors. The inauguration ceremony will be held after the plan is finalized.
President Kim stated, "Dr. Cho Young-sik, the founder of the Kyung Hee Foundation, revealed the goal of becoming a 'world-class university' through a future message on the 15th anniversary of the school's founding in 1964," adding, "Since my appointment, I have felt a heavy sense of responsibility while reviewing Kyung Hee's history."
He continued, "Kyung Hee University is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and is approaching its 100th anniversary in 25 years. A generation is passing, and it is a time to achieve a miracle," expressing his ambition by saying, "For the next 25 years, we will derive a unique innovation model for our university and achieve growth and success for students, faculty, staff, and the university system."
Born in 1962, President Kim earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in electronic engineering from Kyung Hee University. In 2000, he obtained a Ph.D. in digital circuit design from Colorado State University in the United States. Since 2001, he has served as a professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Kyung Hee University, leading research in space system semiconductor design and gaining recognition for his academic capabilities. He has also held major administrative positions on campus, including Director of Admissions, Director of Student Support, Director of Career Development Support, Dean of the Graduate School, and Director of the Central Library, building his administrative expertise.
