Visit to Election Office by Union Chairman and Others
Emphasis on Operation Matching the Identity of Veterans Hospital
Choi Chi-hyun, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Gwangsan-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, and the labor union of Gwangju Veterans Hospital held a discussion on the future direction of the Veterans Hospital.
On the 13th, Candidate Choi held a meeting with the executives of the Gwangju Veterans Hospital labor union at the Blue Camp election office.
Jung Seung-chan, chairman of the Gwangju Veterans Hospital labor union, along with four other union executives, emphasized at the meeting that “a veterans hospital that assists in the treatment and rehabilitation of national merit recipients and veterans’ families should not be burdened by profit concerns in order to improve the quality of care and eliminate excessive treatment,” and stressed “the need for management that aligns with the identity of the veterans hospital.”
Chairman Jung stated, “To improve the quality of medical care, auxiliary staff are naturally necessary, but it is difficult to recruit personnel. Moreover, employees lack not only office space but even changing rooms, so they have to change clothes in the restroom, making it impossible to demand rest areas. If the space is reorganized and basic facilities are provided, the quality of service will improve accordingly.”
Candidate Choi said, “When I was a policy advisor to the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, I visited the Korea Veterans Welfare and Medical Service in Wonju several times to understand the importance of veterans welfare medical care and worked on systematizing the veterans medical system. I agree that active system improvement and investment are necessary to enhance the quality of medical care at veterans hospitals responsible for veterans welfare medical services.”
He also emphasized the role of the veterans hospital in Gwangju, saying, “Gwangju Veterans Hospital plays a very important role in allowing national merit recipients in Gwangju, including the May 18th merit recipients, to receive treatment comfortably and achieve psychological stability.”
Meanwhile, Candidate Choi is busy communicating with residents and solidifying grassroots support as a preliminary candidate for the National Assembly in Gwangsan-gu (Eul). He has been recognized for his capabilities through various roles including special political advisor to presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, administrative officer at the Blue House during the Moon Jae-in administration, policy advisor to the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and head of the Open Civil Service Office in Gwangsan-gu, gaining experience in local government, central government, and the Blue House.
