Youth Challenge Support Project Officially Begins
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is set to actively carry out the Youth Challenge Support Project to support young people’s participation in economic activities and their return to the labor market.
According to the city on the 13th, the Youth Challenge Support Project provides customized programs to help young people who have prolonged job search periods or are about to give up job hunting regain confidence and increase their motivation to seek employment.
In January, the city was selected as a local government participant in the Youth Challenge Support Project by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, securing 627 million KRW in national funding.
Through this, the city plans to support up to 135 young people this year with customized programs lasting up to 5 months or more.
Young participants who complete short-term programs of 1 to 2 months will receive a participation allowance of 500,000 KRW, and those who complete medium-term programs of 3 months or more will receive a participation allowance of 1,500,000 KRW plus a completion incentive of 200,000 KRW.
Those who complete long-term programs of 5 months or more will receive a participation allowance of 2,500,000 KRW plus a completion incentive of 500,000 KRW, totaling up to 3,000,000 KRW.
Additionally, if they find employment within 6 months and maintain their job for 3 months, they will receive an employment incentive of 500,000 KRW.
The support project targets include ▲young people who have given up job searching ▲young people preparing for independence ▲young people entering or leaving youth welfare facilities ▲young people specially selected in the Changwon area ▲women with career interruptions ▲and those aged 39 or younger, the youth standard in Changwon.
Choi Young-sook, the Youth Policy Officer, said, “The Youth Challenge Support Project aims to help young people who have given up job searching regain confidence and rekindle their motivation to seek employment so they can enter society,” adding, “Active participation from local youth is necessary.”
She continued, “We will not only focus on program completion but also thoroughly manage follow-up support such as employment, entrepreneurship, and job search activities after completion, continuously striving to help young people design a bright future.”
