[Special Stock] Genofocus Discusses Production with TSMC Following OpenAI's 9000 Trillion Investment... Catalase Supply Highlighted Upward

Genofocus is showing strong performance. It is interpreted that this is influenced by the news that OpenAI, the creator of 'ChatGPT,' plans to build its own artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor chip production facilities with funding worth 9,000 trillion won, and that Taiwan's TSMC will operate these facilities.

As of 1:51 PM on the 13th, Genofocus is trading at 4,100 won, up 7.89% compared to the previous day.

According to industry sources, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, is reportedly meeting with prospective investors aiming to raise $5 trillion to $7 trillion (approximately 6640.5 trillion to 9300.9 trillion won) in investment funds for semiconductor chips dedicated to AI. OpenAI is the developer of the generative AI ChatGPT.

Compared to last year's total global semiconductor market revenue of $527 billion (approximately 702 trillion won, International Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association), the $7 trillion investment amount is astronomical. It even exceeds the combined market capitalization of Apple and Microsoft, the world's first and second most valuable companies, which totals $6 trillion (approximately 8,000 trillion won).

Altman is said to plan to build about ten semiconductor production facilities within a few years through this capital raising and entrust their operation to Taiwan's TSMC, the world's number one foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) company. To this end, Altman reportedly explained his business plan to SoftBank Chairman Masayoshi Son and the U.S. government.

Meanwhile, Genofocus is a company supplying catalysts to TSMC. Catalysts play a role in decomposing hydrogen peroxide, used as a cleaning agent in semiconductor manufacturing processes, into water and oxygen. This eco-friendly method also saves costs, leading to an expansion of the related market size.
