Questions on Lee Jae-myung's Use of Public Funds and Helicopter Privileges
Election Commission Also Requires Manager's Seal on Early Voting Ballots
Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, once again criticized the semi-proportional representation system while mentioning former Minister Cho Kuk.
On the 13th, at an emergency committee meeting held at the party headquarters, Chairman Han said, "Former Minister Cho Kuk can never wear a National Assembly badge under the parallel system we advocate."
He added, "I fully understand Cho's desire to become a member of the National Assembly," and emphasized, "I think this issue shows the problems of the semi-proportional representation system, which the Democratic Party agreed to 100% like North Korea."
On the 12th, former Minister Cho visited former President Moon Jae-in's residence in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, stating, "I will lend whatever little strength I have to judge the ruthless Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution dictatorship in this general election," and "If there is no other way, I will dedicate myself to judging the Yoon Seok-yeol regime and winning the general election even through the establishment of a new party."
On the same day, Chairman Han posed three questions to Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.
He asked, "Is it true that you ate 10 million won worth of fruit using a public corporate card (law card)? There are suspicions that you also paid for ancestral rites during past holidays with the public corporate card; is that true? Is it true that the preferential treatment of emergency helicopters was your decision?" He added, "Every time I ask these questions, I have never received an answer, but not answering is also an answer."
Chairman Han also criticized the National Election Commission (NEC) for not stamping the ballot papers with the manager's seal during early voting.
He said, "The Public Official Election Act stipulates that the manager stamps the ballot paper with their seal before handing it to the voter," and added, "This is done during the main voting, so there is no reason to do it differently for early voting."
He emphasized, "I think the NEC should not be stubborn about this matter."
