A Romantic Night at Anyangcheon... Yeongdeungpo-gu's Brilliant Lights Illuminate Anyangcheon

The area around Sinjeonggyo Bridge on Anyangcheon, which was dark throughout the night, has been transformed into a nighttime cityscape attraction and a hub for waterfront culture.

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that the previously dark space under Sinjeonggyo Bridge on Anyangcheon has been transformed into a safe and bright area through the installation of emotionally rich lighting in various colors.

Anyangcheon, with its bicycle paths and walking trails, is a representative walking spot and a popular resting place for strolling, exercising, and leisure activities. However, the area under Sinjeonggyo Bridge was dark, causing inconvenience for residents who had to detour while walking.

In response, the district secured 260 million KRW last July through Seoul City's “Nighttime Landscape Improvement Project” contest and recently completed the installation of landscape lighting under Sinjeonggyo Bridge.

The LED indirect lighting installed throughout the underside of Sinjeonggyo Bridge emits a golden hue, creating a subtle and pleasant atmosphere. Additionally, floodlights illuminating the bridge pillars, combined with the indirect lighting, provide distinctive visual attractions for visitors to Anyangcheon, adding vibrancy and liveliness. Especially, the shimmering water of Anyangcheon reflected by the lights blends harmoniously with the surrounding scenery, offering a beautiful view.

The district plans to create various atmospheres reflecting seasonal changes and dynamism through LED landscape lighting that shines not only white but also multiple colors such as 2024 Seoul color Sky Coral, pink, and yellow.

The landscape lighting under Sinjeonggyo Bridge operates continuously from sunset until 11 p.m. It automatically turns on at sunset and turns off automatically late at night to minimize light pollution and consider the growth of nearby trees.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “With this ‘Nighttime Landscape Improvement Project,’ we hope Sinjeonggyo Bridge on Anyangcheon will become a landmark representing the night view and a central space for meetings and culture.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to create spaces for rest, culture, and leisure for residents, as well as new spaces full of vitality.”
