Gyeonggi-do to Conduct 'Apartment Complex Management Audits' for 100 Complexes This Year

Gyeonggi-do to Conduct 'Apartment Complex Management Audits' for 100 Complexes This Year Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province will conduct audits on a total of 100 apartment complexes this year to foster a healthy culture of apartment management.

The apartment management audit was first introduced by Gyeonggi Province in 2013 and has been implemented nationwide since its legalization in 2014.

The audits are divided into complaint audits and planned audits. Complaint audits are conducted with the consent of more than 30% of all residents and are selected through demand surveys conducted via city and county offices. Planned audits are conducted semiannually to identify vulnerable areas by selecting specific themes and are carried out simultaneously with city and county offices. This year, they will focus on contract renewal procedures for service providers and the appropriateness of management fee disclosures. The audits will cover 25 complexes directly by Gyeonggi Province and 75 complexes through city and county offices.

Gyeonggi Province compiles an annual casebook of major issues identified and distributes it to city and county offices as well as apartment complexes.

Starting in the second half of this year, audits will also check for recurrence of the same violations in complexes that have previously undergone audits to prevent reoccurrence.

Park Jong-geun, head of the Apartment Management Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will take measures against illegal activities identified through apartment management audits and simultaneously make efforts to prevent recurrence. We will do our best to protect the rights and interests of residents."
