Democratic Party: "Yoon is obsessed with protecting Mrs. Kim... Must remember Choi Soon-sil's state corruption"

The Democratic Party of Korea criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 11th, saying, "You must remember what happened to former President Park Geun-hye, who was involved in the 'Choi Soon-sil government manipulation' scandal." This came as an offensive move following President Yoon's statement regarding the controversy over his wife Kim Geon-hee's receipt of luxury handbags.

Kang Seon-woo, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a commentary that day, "President Yoon has closed his eyes and ears, focusing only on 'protecting Mrs. Kim Geon-hee.'"

Spokesperson Kang questioned, "If public officials and their families turn a blind eye when receiving expensive gifts under the pretext of personal connections, then why do investigative agencies exist, and why was the Kim Young-ran Act established?"

He continued, "It is the role and responsibility of the head of state, the president, to set an example for all public officials in the Republic of Korea," and asked, "Is the president, who was once the head of an investigative agency, planning to not only hollow out but also ridicule the law and principles by taking the lead?"

He urged, "President Yoon, who was once a tough prosecutor wielding the sword of 'fairness and rule of law' even against sitting presidents, should resolve this issue himself in his original style."

Spokesperson Kang pledged, "This general election is the last chance to regain the vision of Korea and the hopes of the people lost due to the arrogance and incompetence of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration," adding, "We will do our best to restore the lives of the people and the livelihoods shattered by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration."
