Honam University Selected for 8 Consecutive Years as a 'University Certified for Internationalization of Education Competency'

Honam University has been selected as a certified university for the '2023 Internationalization Quality Assurance System (IEQAS)' evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education for the eighth consecutive year, affirming its status as a global university.

Since 2017, Honam University has been recognized as a certified university for internationalization capabilities for eight consecutive years, receiving accreditation for the quality of education and internationalization capabilities. This has established an important foundation to strengthen its position in the global market, expand the recruitment of outstanding international students, and promote international exchange and cooperation.

The 'Internationalization Quality Assurance System and Survey on the Recruitment and Management of Foreign Students' evaluation is conducted separately for degree programs and language training programs. For degree programs, the evaluation covers six areas including the basic requirement of illegal stay rate, key indicators such as dropout rate, foreign student tuition burden rate, and certified language proficiency of international students. For language training programs, the evaluation spans seven areas including the basic requirement of illegal stay rate, key indicators such as language training student tuition burden rate, medical insurance enrollment rate, and the proportion of Korean language teacher certification.

Honam University received favorable evaluations for its efforts in building qualitative infrastructure and management in response to the continuous increase in the number of international students. This is the result of relentless efforts and innovation aimed at the internationalization of education, meeting international standards, and enhancing future competitiveness.

The results of this certification are officially posted on the Ministry of Education’s 'Korean Study Abroad Comprehensive System' and provide various benefits such as ▲selection programs for government-sponsored foreign students (GKS) ▲simplification of visa issuance procedures for international students ▲provision of benefits in education policies and projects ▲enhanced promotion of certified universities ▲and expanded permitted working hours for part-time employment of international students.
