Goheung-gun Initiates Maintenance of Long-Neglected Vacant Houses

Support for Demolition Costs of 2 Million Won, Until the 26th

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it will promote the '2024 Vacant House Maintenance Project' to create a pleasant living environment for residents and improve residential landscapes.

The county will invest a total project cost of 150 million KRW to support demolition costs for vacant houses that have been left unused or unoccupied for more than one year among the old houses in the area.

This year, the plan is to maintain 75 detached houses and auxiliary buildings, and the demolition cost support will increase by 33% from last year to 2 million KRW per building. For buildings with slate roofs, the project will be promoted in connection with the Environmental Forestry Department's slate roof demolition support project.

Applicants wishing to maintain vacant houses must prepare relevant documents verifying ownership of the vacant house and apply by the 26th of this month at the eup/myeon office (Population Administration Team) where the vacant house is located.

However, cases where the vacant house has been left for less than one year, ownership is unclear, or only part of the building (auxiliary building) on the residential site is demolished are excluded from the project.

A Gohung-gun official said, "We will do our best to demolish vacant houses that have been left unattended for a long time, which harm the residential environment and aesthetics of the village, to create a safe and pleasant living environment and improve the quality of life for residents."
