Sharing Holiday Food and Groceries with Elderly Living Alone to Practice Neighborly Love
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 7th that it conducted sharing activities for underprivileged neighbors in the region ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This event was part of the "Happiness Sharing Love Practice Lunchbox Delivery Project," which the Authority has been jointly promoting with the Jungma Senior Welfare Center in Gwangyang City for five years. It aimed to help prevent malnutrition and promote health among vulnerable elderly people in the region, such as elderly living alone and basic livelihood security recipients.

For this sharing event, considering the preferences and convenience of the elderly, health kits containing holiday foods such as fruits and groceries were prepared. The packaged kits were personally delivered to about 30 households by the "YGPA Port Love Volunteer Corps."
In addition, employee volunteers not only delivered the sponsored goods but also checked on the elderly’s well-being and health status and listened to their difficulties, adding more meaning to the event.
Park Seong-hyun, President of the Authority, said, "This was a meaningful event to share warmth with neighbors while looking back on the elderly who might spend a lonely holiday worrying about meals during the Lunar New Year holiday." He added, "We will continue to actively support vulnerable groups in the local community."
