Seo Young-eun, head of the Department of Urology at Daedong Hospital, received a commendation from the Minister of Justice for her work related to pharmacological treatment of sexual impulses.
The Ministry of Justice stated that Seo Young-eun was commended for her significant contributions to crime prevention in the local community and the advancement of protective administration by supporting pharmacological treatment of sexual impulses with a strong sense of duty and volunteer spirit.
Pharmacological treatment of sexual impulses is aimed at preventing recidivism of sexual crimes and promoting social reintegration by administering medication to patients with paraphilic disorders who have committed sexual offenses and are recognized as having a risk of reoffending.
During the period of treatment order enforcement, probation is mandatory, and the treatment involves weakening or normalizing abnormal sexual impulses and desires through medication or other methods for a certain period to suppress paraphilic sexual functions.
Seo Young-eun, who received the commendation, said, “I am pleased to receive this commendation from the Ministry of Justice as a result of practicing medical skills based on the belief of Dr. Park Young-seop, the founder of Daedong Hospital, that there should be no discrimination in healthcare,” and added, “I will continue to strive to contribute to the health of the local community.”
Daedong Hospital’s Department of Urology consists of two specialists and professionally handles various urological diseases such as prostate disorders, urinary stones, male medicine, male menopause, pediatric urology, female urinary incontinence and voiding disorders, sexual dysfunction, and urological tumors, as well as emergency diseases linked with the regional emergency medical center, working hard to improve the health of local residents.
