DS Networks' investment project for the tourist complex in Bohol, Philippines (K-Loay Friendship City) has passed the approval for large-scale investment.

Having completed all permits for the entire project site and secured 100% land ownership, last month the investment approval from KIND (Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation) was granted, bringing the start of the 320,000-pyeong Hallyu tourist complex (K-Loay Friendship City) project within reach.

In December 2022, DS Networks Group established a local foreign investment corporation in the Philippines called ‘DS BAPS (DSnetworks BOHOL ADVANCED PARTNERS)’ together with the local company BAPS INTL to ensure smooth project progress.

Bohol Island, along with Cebu and Boracay, is one of the top three tourist destinations in the Philippines, rapidly rising in popularity due to its natural tourist attractions such as Chocolate Hills, tarsiers, Loboc River, whale sharks, and Balicasag Island. However, the absence of golf courses and luxury accommodations had been a drawback.

A representative of DS BAPS, the project entity, stated, “If the Hallyu tourist complex featuring Bohol Island’s first golf course and a luxury golf & resort with 1,300 rooms is completed within the 320,000-pyeong site, it is expected to firmly establish itself as Bohol’s premier resort destination.”

They also revealed, “The 60,000-pyeong commercial facility within the complex, composed of various tenants, is planned to include uniquely themed cafes, beach clubs, and language training centers, significantly expanding Bohol Island’s tourism infrastructure and content.”

Compared to other Southeast Asian resorts such as Bali, Kota Kinabalu, and Pattaya, Bohol in the Philippines is expected to continue its growth due to its short travel time (just over 4 hours from Seoul) and more than three direct flights operating daily.
