'Titanium's Majesty' Threw a Furnace at the Galaxy S24... Amazing Result

Titanium Frame Remains Intact Even at 1100 Degrees
"I Didn't Expect It to Last This Long"

A video showing Samsung Electronics' flagship smartphone 'Galaxy S24' Ultra model being thrown into a furnace at 1100 degrees Celsius has become a hot topic among netizens both domestically and internationally. Even as the smartphone burns in the high heat, only the 'titanium frame' maintained its shape.

Overseas IT YouTuber 'JerryRigEverything' conducted a durability test on the Galaxy S24 Ultra on his YouTube channel on the 5th (local time). Typically, durability tests involve dropping electronic devices from high places or applying strong impacts, but this test was much more daring. The smartphone was thrown into an ultra-high temperature furnace burning at 1100 degrees Celsius.

In the video, as soon as the phone enters the furnace, components such as the circuit board of the Galaxy S24 burn away without retaining any shape. However, the frame containing titanium was charred black but still maintained its original form.

The YouTuber 'Jerry' who conducted the test also expressed surprise. While lifting the titanium frame engulfed in flames with tongs, he said, "Honestly, I did not expect the (smartphone) to maintain its shape this long inside the furnace."

Jerry speculated that the Galaxy S24 Ultra's frame is a composite of plastic, aluminum, and titanium. In fact, the parts of the frame made of plastic inside the furnace were completely burned, but the internal titanium remained intact.

According to the detailed specifications of the smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra uses 6061 aluminum and grade 2 titanium. Titanium is classified by impurity content, with grades 1 to 4 being pure titanium and grade 5 and above classified as titanium alloys.

Titanium is known as an alloy that maintains high strength and stiffness even at high temperatures and has high resistance to corrosion. For this reason, it is mainly used in engineering fields such as aerospace that must withstand extreme environments. Earlier, Samsung Electronics emphasized that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the first in the S series to apply a titanium frame.
