Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) has designated the ten days before the Lunar New Year holiday as a focused volunteer period and is carrying out various activities.
To ensure that neighbors around can have a safe and abundant Lunar New Year, more than 60 volunteers from the Seodaemun-gu Volunteer Center and five volunteer camps in Bukahyeon-dong, Hong Eun 1-dong, Hong Eun 2-dong, Bukgajwa 1-dong, and Bukgajwa 2-dong will participate in sharing their helping hands.
The volunteer camps in Bukahyeon-dong and Bukgajwa 2-dong delivered homemade holiday meals to elderly living alone and senior centers, while the volunteer camps in Hong Eun 1-dong and Hong Eun 2-dong plan to disinfect exercise equipment along the Hongjecheon Stream and conduct environmental cleanup activities for users during the holiday period.
Additionally, the volunteer camp in Bukgajwa 1-dong will make and gift children's dolls to vulnerable families with children.
Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “I am grateful to the volunteers who look after neighbors during this busy time before the holiday, and we will implement comprehensive measures to prepare for heavy snow and cold waves during the holiday period so that everyone can have a safe Lunar New Year.”
