On the 4th, a post by Mr. A, who operates a fish stew and steamed fish specialty restaurant, became a hot topic on an online community. The author, Mr. A, began by saying, "I was raised by my mother alone without a father during my childhood," and "After being discharged from the military, when my mother’s health deteriorated, I took over the fish store she ran."

The conflicts between Mr. A and his wife started right after he took over the fish store. The reason was that Mr. A’s body smelled of fish after work. His wife, Mrs. B, a full-time housewife, said, "I am sensitive to smells," and would not allow Mr. A to touch door handles when he came home from work and made him go straight to the bathroom.

Mr. A complained, "She told me to wear hygiene gloves when unlocking the door after work, said she couldn’t wash clothes together with me, and told me to either buy a new washing machine or wash by hand." Eventually, Mr. A repeated a routine of stopping by a sauna near home after work to wash off the fishy smell, changing into pajamas, and going home, and even ended up sleeping in separate rooms from his wife.

Mr. A said, "The decisive reason for the divorce was when I grabbed the car keys to go out to eat, and my wife said, ‘Why would you even think of riding in the car when the seats, steering wheel, and windows will be filled with that fishy smell?’ I apologized and took a taxi instead." He continued, "At the restaurant, we were served cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste stew) set meal with grilled fish. Then my wife said, ‘I really want to stop smelling this disgusting fishy smell,’ and I put down my chopsticks and went home alone." He added, "I wondered if I had worked over ten years, taking only one day off every couple of months, just to live like this," and concluded, "I eventually divorced and am very happy now."

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "Good for you for divorcing. You suffered living with someone who didn’t understand the stress of your work," "She’s a full-time housewife but never handled fish before?" "If it were me, I’d love my husband no matter what smell he had after working all day," and "The wife was immature."
