Delivery Worker Death: 20-Year-Old Arrested for Drunk Driving Mercedes-Benz in Gangnam

Court: "Risk of Flight Exists"

On the early morning of the 3rd, Ahn, a 20-year-old club DJ accused of causing the death of a motorcycle delivery worker by drunk driving in Gangnam, Seoul, was arrested on the 5th.


Yoon Jaenam, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, issued an arrest warrant for Ahn in the afternoon on charges of causing death by dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, stating that "there is a risk of flight."

According to the police, Ahn is accused of hitting and killing a motorcycle delivery worker, Mr. A (54), while driving under the influence around 4:30 a.m. on the 3rd in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu. At the time, Ahn's blood alcohol concentration was reported to be at the level warranting license cancellation.


Ahn tested negative on a preliminary drug screening test, but the police have requested a detailed examination. He reportedly told the police that he did not use drugs.


When Ahn arrived at the court in the afternoon for the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing), he responded "I'm sorry" to reporters' questions asking if he had anything to say to the victim's side.
