'Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters' Installation Drill and Joint Safety Inspections of Fire, Gas, and Electricity with Related Agencies
Comprehensive Lunar New Year Safety Measures Including Inspection of Facilities with Increased Visitors During Holiday Period
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) supports the safe Lunar New Year holiday for residents by operating the ‘Disaster Safety Situation Room,’ a 24-hour disaster monitoring system.
On the 31st of last month, the district conducted a drill simulating a disaster occurrence, checking the response process and 23 on-site action manuals (such as wildfires, wind and flood damage, cold waves), and carried out a training exercise for the establishment of the ‘Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.’
This headquarters is composed of 13 task forces including situation management, facility restoration, energy recovery, and communication support, serving as a control tower for relief of disaster victims, disaster management resources, and medical support.
Earlier, on the 4th and 5th of last month, the district conducted joint safety inspections of fire-vulnerable facilities with related organizations, checking fire, gas, and electrical safety.
From the 15th to the 26th, safety inspections were carried out on multi-use facilities (performance halls, cultural and sports facilities), traditional markets, construction sites, and road facilities (bridges, underground passages, retaining walls, stone embankments) together with the Building Safety Advisory Group and external experts.
Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, “We are making every effort to implement comprehensive Lunar New Year safety measures, including proactive safety inspections of facilities with increased users during the holiday period, so that residents can spend the holiday safely and comfortably.”
Since May of last year, the district has been operating the Disaster Safety Situation Room, maintaining a disaster management system without any gaps 365 days a year.
Specifically, a rapid response system (recognition, dissemination, and reporting of disaster situations) has been established through continuous monitoring using CCTV control systems and the National Disaster Management Information System.
Additionally, in the event of a disaster, an SNS situation dissemination room is activated to establish an emergency command system and enhance initial disaster response capabilities in cooperation with related organizations such as fire departments and police.
In fact, to date, the district has handled ▲8 natural disasters including Inwangsan wildfire and Yeonhui-dong stone embankment collapse ▲12 cases related to facility damage and collapse ▲27 fire-related cases ▲213 simple incidents and accidents, fulfilling its role in enhancing community safety.
