The '1,000 Won Breakfast' project provides healthy breakfast to university students for 1,000 won. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs decided to operate this year by significantly expanding the support unit price (1,000 won → 2,000 won) and the number of meals (2.33 million → 4.5 million) to about double compared to the previous year, so that universities with difficult financial conditions can also participate and more students can have better breakfast.

Local governments have also established additional support plans amounting to about 3.5 billion won, twice that of the previous year, and will support schools wishing to operate even during vacation periods.

Universities wishing to apply can submit the application form along with the documents attached to the recruitment notice to the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries via electronic official document or email. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will review the documents submitted by the schools and select and announce the participating universities by the 23rd.
