The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 4th that since the launch of the 'Special Civil Complaint Staff Protection Team' in August last year, all 18 affected employees received decisions of non-prosecution.

During the same period, the team provided tailored support such as on-site consultations and assistance with filing complaints eight times at regional offices where verbal abuse and assault by complainants occurred, and operated psychological healing programs for 146 affected employees.

In addition, to prevent special civil complaints in advance, ten regional special civil complaint meetings and training sessions were held. Based on external legal advice, the comprehensive manual for responding to special civil complaints was also revised to ensure a systematic response.

The Ministry also produced and distributed its own special civil complaint response training videos considering the ministry’s work circumstances.

This year, to improve the working environment of small employment centers with few staff members where responding to illegal acts is difficult, plans are in place to install additional fixed tempered glass, CCTV, and emergency bells.

Minister Lee Jeong-sik stated, “To provide high-quality employment and labor services that the public can feel, it is essential that Ministry of Employment and Labor employees, who communicate directly with the public on the front lines of policy, can work in a safe environment. We will actively protect frontline employees from illegal acts such as verbal abuse and assault through the establishment of a systematic special civil complaint response system.”
