Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that following the Yangcheon-style Overnight Emergency Care Daycare Center launched in March last year to provide seamless childcare services without gaps, it will newly operate a weekend-type daycare center starting this February.

The district currently operates the ‘Yangcheon-style Overnight Emergency Care Daycare Center,’ the first in Seoul’s autonomous districts to offer year-round, nighttime, and late-night specialized care services. This service addresses childcare gaps occurring during late-night hours in urgent situations such as sudden overnight work, business trips, accidents, or hospitalizations for dual-income or single-parent families. It was ranked 4th in Yangcheon’s top 10 news stories at the end of last year, receiving high praise from residents.

Additionally, the public Haemaji Daycare Center located in Sinwol 7-dong (Jiyang-ro 5-gil 15) was selected for the ‘365 Days Never-Ending Hana Care Daycare Center (Weekend Type)’ public contest project promoted by Hana Financial Group and will begin full operation from February.

The Hana Care Daycare Center was established to provide weekend childcare services that parents can conveniently use for the necessary amount of time when they need urgent care outside regular hours or have weekend work commitments.

A district official stated, “We applied considering the accessibility and the lack of weekend childcare facilities in the area,” adding, “Haemaji Daycare Center was highly evaluated for serving infants and young children of various ages and for conducting hub-type extended nighttime care.”

The center will receive a total of 500 million KRW in support over the next five years, enabling the provision of a stable, high-quality childcare environment and customized childcare services.

The service is available for infants and young children aged 6 months to under 6 years who require urgent or temporary weekend care and can be used on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) through advance reservation or same-day visit registration. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the usage fee is 3,000 KRW per hour.

In addition, the district operates the ‘Yangcheon-style Non-Homeroom Lead Teacher’ project, which guarantees vacation rights for daycare teachers to fill work gaps and create a stable childcare environment. Last year, 10 daycare centers were selected through a public contest, and when hiring non-homeroom lead teachers, personnel expenses equivalent to the first step of national and public daycare centers were supported.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We are pleased to provide trustworthy childcare services to residents in need of emergency care,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to make Yangcheon a great place to raise children by providing a safe childcare environment and high-quality childcare services.”
