New Diaper and Wet Wipe Releases
AI Service Recommends Diapers Suitable for Babies
The household goods industry has started to differentiate diapers and wet wipes that come into direct contact with baby skin by emphasizing ‘enhanced skin care.’ This is because more parents are becoming sensitive about and selective in choosing products that touch their baby’s skin.
On the 5th, Yuhan-Kimberly announced the recent launch of the new ‘Huggies Naturemade’ product. This product features a ‘Pantedin Cica Care Lotion’ containing panthenol and centella asiatica, which help strengthen the baby’s skin barrier, applied to the inner cover. It gently and comfortably protects the baby’s skin, which needs to wear diapers for extended periods. Skin irritation tests have also been completed. Additionally, the inner cover uses a biomass material derived from sugarcane.
The absorbent layer incorporates Huggies’ Dual Action Core, which simultaneously enhances absorption and breathability. Compared to the existing absorbent core, the Dual Action Core improves absorption capacity and backflow prevention by 30%, and breathability by 25%. The pant-type diapers are equipped with a new Easy Action Magic Tape featuring a safety cover. The safety cover is an innovative material applied for the first time in 20 years since Huggies introduced pant-type diapers. It reflects parents’ expectations that even the slightest irritation to baby skin be avoided. Yuhan-Kimberly made separate facility investments for the safety cover.
Yuhan-Kimberly also launched the ‘Huggies AI Fitting Room’ service last month, utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). The AI Fitting Room analyzes and suggests the appropriate diaper size for the baby. If the diaper is too tight or small, friction can cause skin irritation, which this service aims to minimize. Based on big data accumulated over time, including baby body shape information and size satisfaction, the AI has been trained on 500,000 photos of babies wearing diapers.
Clean Nara released the baby wet wipe ‘Baby Care The Origin Wet Wipes.’ This is the first baby wet wipe introduced under the Clean Nara brand. Over 37,000 packs were sold within just three days of pre-ordering on Coupang last month.
Since the product is for babies, a high-moisture ‘Premium Seed Formula’ was applied for healthy skin. It contains extracts of baobab seed, macadamia seed, and jojoba seed to keep even delicate baby skin moist. The dense fabric structure is embossed to enhance the feel compared to regular fabric. Without chemical treatment, the ‘Spunlace method’ was used, which bonds fibers by spraying high-pressure water, minimizing fiber damage. Furthermore, highly purified water that removes over 99% of microbes and viruses was used, and no artificial fragrances were added.
