The KOSPI recovered the 2600 level, rising nearly 3%. Foreign investors and institutions drove the index up with net purchases exceeding 2 trillion won.
On the 2nd, the KOSPI closed at 2,615.31, up 72.85 points (2.87%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreign investors and institutions net bought 1.8946 trillion won and 643.6 billion won, respectively. Individuals net sold 2.4898 trillion won.
By sector, transportation equipment rose 6.96%. The service industry jumped 4.41%, while finance and warehousing increased more than 3%. Pharmaceuticals, textiles and apparel, manufacturing, securities, chemicals, machinery, medical precision, steel and metals, and non-metallic minerals all rose more than 2%. Conversely, construction fell 1.04%, and electricity and gas also declined slightly.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks rose. Samsung Electronics closed at 75,200 won, up 1,600 won (2.17%) from the previous trading day. Kia surged 12.42%. Hyundai Motor and NAVER rose more than 9%, while KB Financial Group and LG Chem increased 8.16% and 7.21%, respectively. Additionally, Samsung SDI rose 4.11%, and Samsung Biologics climbed 3.62%.
On this day, 713 stocks in the KOSPI rose without any hitting the upper limit, 182 stocks declined, and 43 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 814.77, up 16.04 points (2.01%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreign investors and institutions net bought 61.3 billion won and 96.9 billion won, respectively. Meanwhile, individuals net sold 153.6 billion won.
By sector, all sectors rose except for the internet sector, which fell 0.23%. Paper and wood and pharmaceuticals rose 4.39% and 3.11%, respectively. Digital content and semiconductors increased more than 2%, while telecommunications equipment, telecommunication services, IT components, machinery equipment, food and tobacco, other manufacturing, and general electric and gas all rose more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 229,000 won, up 1,000 won (0.44%) from the previous trading day. Sinseong Delta Tech surged 16.31%, and HLB, Alteogen, and EO Technics rose between 6% and 8%. Additionally, EcoPro, Celltrion Pharm, and Lino Industrial also rose more than 1%.
In the KOSDAQ, including five stocks that hit the upper limit such as NKMAX, Helixmith, and CCS, 1,183 stocks rose. Without any hitting the lower limit, 386 stocks declined, and 68 stocks remained unchanged.
