The Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (Director Park Jong-gil) has selected Kim Tae-woo, Deputy Director of Medical Affairs at Suncheon Hospital, and Lee Dae-gyun, Deputy Director of Medical Affairs at Ansan Hospital, as the honorable recipients of the ‘Korea Industrial Accident Medical Award’.

The ‘Korea Industrial Accident Medical Award’ is an award given to the top doctors in the field of industrial accident medical care under the Service. Each year, doctors from 13 hospitals and clinics nationwide who have dedicated themselves with a strong sense of mission to strengthening industrial accident medical care and developing regional public healthcare are selected and encouraged to realize the best industrial accident medical services.
The recipient in the ‘Strengthening Industrial Accident Medical Care’ category is Kim Tae-woo, Head of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Suncheon Hospital. He was highly evaluated for his leading role in professional and objective investigations of industrial accident causality related to workers’ occupational diseases, support for industrial accident workers such as workplace reintegration activation, and industrial accident prevention through health examinations and industrial health projects.
In the ‘Development of Public Healthcare’ category, Lee Dae-gyun, Head of Neurology at Ansan Hospital, a regional responsible medical institution, was honored for his significant contributions as the head of the Public Healthcare Headquarters. He played a key role in advancing essential health services through establishing a regional public healthcare cooperation system, including severe emergency transport referrals, infection and patient safety management, discharge patient linkage, rehabilitation medical care, and continuous care cooperation.
The award ceremonies for these recipients will be held separately at Ansan Hospital and Suncheon Hospital. Director Park Jong-gil of the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service plans to personally visit the hospitals to present the awardees with doctor’s gowns embroidered with the ‘Industrial Accident Medical Award’ patch and pure gold medals.
Director Park Jong-gil of the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service said, “I sincerely congratulate the two honorable recipients,” and added, “We will continue to strive to provide proper recognition and improve treatment for the medical staff of our affiliated hospitals who quietly fulfill their duties.”
The Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service operates 13 industrial accident hospitals and clinics nationwide, focusing on supporting the prompt return to daily life through specialized rehabilitation treatment tailored for industrial accident patients. It also fulfills its role as a regional public hospital by providing emergency medical services in medically underserved areas and serving as a regional public healthcare institution.
